Heavy, dense fog across parts of the Chicago area Wednesday morning could make for dangerous driving conditions during the rush hour commute, the National Weather Service warned, with a dense fog advisory in effect for multiple counties and visibility at a quarter mile or less.
CHICAGO — Friday could see record warmth in Chicago — but also more rain. Thursday will remain foggy with drizzle in the morning and early afternoon, and temperatures are only expected to get as high as 39 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
Clear and breezy today; patchy freezing rain possible late Monday night. Heavier rain and storms likely midweek into Friday.

Spring weather outlook for Chicago, fewer extremes with more typical Midwestern ups and downs
As La Niña continues to fade and we transition toward a more neutral pattern, the atmosphere should become a bit less locked into extremes and a little more typical of a Midwestern spring, which can still bring plenty of ups and downs.
After unseasonably warm temperatures in the 60s Friday — with some areas southwest of Chicago nearing the upper 60s — a sharp cooldown is expected this weekend.

Chicago weather: Warmer temps to come, with several rain chances this week
Increasing cloud cover is expected tonight and then our rain chances will increase on Tuesday. Overnight low temperatures will drop to the low to mid 30s.
Temperatures stretched well into the 60s for northern Illinois on Monday, but cold weather is expected to return soon.
