Chaos erupted at Daytona Beach as five separate shootings reportedly sent spring break visitors running for cover over the weekend, authorities said.
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- For the third year in a row, the City of Miami Beach has imposed a state of emergency and an overnight curfew for South Beach starting 11:59 p.m. Sunday after multiple fatal shootings occurred during spring break festivities this weekend.
Gabriela Vela said she's come to Miami Beach for spring break for the past three years, even back when the city had strict crackdowns on unlawful behavior. CBS News Miami asked her if those past restrictions have deterred her. "Absolutely not," she said. "Miami is the place to go for spring break every single year."
For the first time in two years, the city of Miami Beach is loosening its spring break restrictions as it looks to attract more families and health-conscious tourists.
