Aircraft from 41 Squadron Royal Air Force Coningsby conducted a long-planned live fire exercise with the Royal Navy, and US counterparts on a decommissioned U.S. Navy warship. Three RAF Typhoon jets, HMS Westminster, a Wildcat helicopter, a US P-8 Poseidon, F-15Es and USS Arleigh Burke used an array of high-powered weaponry for simulated attacks on the decommissioned frigate, USS Boone. Hawker Typhoon arrives at RAF Coningsby The sole remaining example of an iconic World War Two aircraft, the Hawker Typhoon, has been ‘rolled-out’ at RAF Coningsby today, home of the RAF’s Eurofighter Typhoons. The aircraft was originally built in 1944 and belongs to the Royal Air Force Museum. It is usually on display at Hendon in North London, but for the last four years has been in Canada.
